Save Energy with Nanotechnology
Why should I add insulation to my home?
Improving your home insulation system is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to increase energy efficiency and comfort in your home. By investing in proper home insulation and weatherization products, you can significantly reduce your heating costs and reduce your cooling costs.
The chart below shows the average percentage of energy usage in a home.

There are several advantages to adding insulation to your home:
- Proper insulation reduces energy costs.
- A well-insulated structure does not gain or lose heat as quickly as a poorly-insulated one, so it is easier to maintain a comfortable temperature.
- The retention of conditioned air lowers the demand on the heating and cooling systems. This reduces operating costs and extends the life of the system.
Improving your home's insulating system is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to increase energy efficiency and comfort in your home.
Where should I add insulation?

How can Nansulate® help?
Nansulate® is easy to apply yourself and can be sprayed, brushed or rolled on in a variety of places. It can also be painted over with a color paint. Nansulate® will help to provide a thermal insulation barrier (keeping heat in or out - depending on the season); and will also help with moisture control (controlling moisture passing through insulation and collecting in your home's structure). Nansulate® provides protection heat transfer, while also offering you a cost effective, do it yourself means of increasing your home's energy efficiency which will help lower fuel bills.
Click the thumbnail below to see how Nansulate® appears on pre-painted surfaces (used in these pictures as wall insulation and ceiling insulation). You will see that your original color will show through, with a slight sheen added.
Product Details
Nansulate® HomeProtect ClearCoat
Translucent, can be painted over - for exterior or interior use on homes and commercial buildings for insulation and mold resistance.
Average surface temperature difference when applied correctly is approx. 60° F for a three coat coverage. We say 'average' because the difference experienced increases or decreases accordingly with the amount of difference between the high and low temperatures.
Coverage Rate: One gallon covers approximately 150-175 sq ft of surface area with the recommended minimum three coats of Nansulate® required for thermal protection. Actual coverage rate may vary depending on surface texture.

Nansulate® QUICK FACTS:
Coat Thickness:
Each coat should be applied at between 3-5 wet mils. When applied too thick, you may experience cracking when drying. Most paint stores can supply you with an inexpensive wet mil thickness gauge.
Temperature Difference Range:
With each three coat application of Nansualte you will receive an average temperature difference of 60 degrees F. Due to the nature of heat transfer, the larger the difference between your high and low temperatures, the larger difference you will see with Nansulate®; The smaller difference between your high/low temperatures, the smaller difference you will see.
What is the R-Value of Nansulate®?
The R-Value is formulated using an inch of thickness as a measure. Due to the fact that Nansulate® is made to go on in a thin layer - less than an inch thick - an R-Value cannot be calculated for it. However the R-Value is only a measure of how a material works to insulate against Conduction, and not the other two methods of heat transfer, Convection and Radiation. Nansulate® will protect against all three methods of heat transfer and help to create a total thermal barrier, not only insulate by trapping air, as other insulations do.

Testing & Specifications
Mold specific testing:
EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the nation's leading testing laboratories, compared mold growth on wooden surfaces coated with Nansulate® HomeProtect to surfaces with no coating. Both were exposed to spore-producing bacteria, including Pencillium funiculosum, Aspergillus niger, Aureobasidium pullulans, Chaetomium globosum, and Trichoderma virens. After four weeks, Nansulate® HomeProtect exhibited zero or minimal mold growths, whereas the uncoated surfaces showed extreme to 100 percent mold coverage.
The testing was conducted by EMSL Analytical, Inc., an AIHA accredited laboratory, and conformed to guidelines defined by the Amercian Society for Testing and Materials in ASTM D 5590, "Standard Test Method for Determining the Resistance of Paint Films and Related Coatings to Fungal Defacement by Accelerated Four-Week Agar Plate Assay," and ASTM G21, "Standard Practice for Determining Resistance of Synthetic Polymeric Materials to Fungi."
The test results from a variety of sources demonstrate that the Nansulate® Homeprotect coatings are an effective solution against the growth of common and hazardous molds, in addition to providing outstanding corrosion protection and insulation in a single solution.
